A Senior Buyer/Purchaser plays a critical role in ensuring the organization maintains efficient inventory levels and reliable supply chains. This position oversees procurement activities from sourcing to invoicing while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. They ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness across all purchasing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
– Manage purchase orders, verify pricing, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.
– Review and maintain daily inventory levels, ordering items as required to support uninterrupted operations.
– Match packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices, ensuring accuracy and submitting complete documentation to accounting.
– Negotiate supply agreements and terms to secure the best value for the organization.
– Create, issue, and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and maintain all purchasing reports and filing systems.
– Participate in production meetings and respond promptly to purchasing inquiries to support cross-department needs.
Qualifications:
– Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and the full Microsoft Office Suite.
– Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce, or economics – or several years of purchasing experience in manufacturing.
– Proven experience in procurement within a manufacturing environment.
– Demonstrated ability to negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers.
– Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills, with flexibility to work extra hours during fiscal or month-end periods.
