Nestled 58kms southwest of Calgary in beautiful Diamond Valley, Alberta, the vibrant Oilfields General Hospital offers an excellent rural nursing opportunity in a unique and diverse Alberta Health services care facility. The Registered Nurse (RN) in Acute Care works in a Patient Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the patients and their families. Along with working on the 15-bed medical unit the RN will be working in the Emergency Department. The RN will work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines including LPNs, Health Care Aides, Rehabilitation Staff, Pharmacy and the Physicians group. The RN provides leadership through assessment, planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of patient care. The RN actively engages in health promotion, chronic disease management and enhancing the patient’s activities of daily living.The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness as outlined in You may be eligible for Canada Student Loan forgiveness if you meet other eligibility requirements.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $ to $ per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article or (ii), as applicable.
Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification:
Additional Required Qualifications: 1-year recent experience up to full time equivalent in a similar acute care setting. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. The RN requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications: 1-year recent experience up to full time equivalent working in an emergency department. Demonstrated critical thinking, effective decision making and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated Palliative Care experience. Demonstrated education and experience with wound care. Current ACLS.
