  • Sizing calculations for equipment, lines, and instrumentation.

  • Documentation of calculations performed.

  • Generation of documents such as heat & material balance tables, line designation tables, PSV lists, SDK/cause and effect diagrams, set point lists, car seal lists, operating philosophies, equipment datasheets, and instrumentation datasheets.

  • Participate in PHAs (HAZIDs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other critical safety reviews)

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to deliver quality products to our clients.

  • Client interface – discussion and presentations are a mandatory requirement.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of process engineering design of Thermal SAGD / oil sands facilities, oil & gas facilities such as wellsite, conventional liquids gathering and handling facilities, gas plants – compression and treatment, and refineries.

  • Any experience and exposure to energy transition / renewable energy (carbon capture, hydrogen, biofuels, biogas, etc.) studies and projects would be an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of simulation software Aspen HYSYS is a must, and familiarity with Promax, HYSYS Dynamics, Aspen Plus, Symmetry (VMGSim), AFT-Fathom and Impulse, etc. will be an added advantage.

  • Experience in flaring simulations using Aspen Flare Analyzer.

  • Strong experience with the development, interpretation, and checking of PFDs, P&IDs and other process deliverables. Ability to read piping isometrics and piping plans.

  • Very proficient with process calculations, and extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of design guidelines (API standards, AER directives, etc.).

  • Experience working with electronic markup software, such as Bluebeam, would be an asset.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Excellent and strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Requires a superior understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite.
