Reports to : Head - Plant Maintenance
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is looking for a Manager – Plant Maintenance Engineering for our Plant Maintenance Department. This position provides expertise in managing, directing, planning, staffing, controlling, and organizing the activities of the Department's engineering team and maintenance activities to achieve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
What You Will Do
- Plan, direct, manage and coordinate the work of the assigned Engineering section to provide engineering support to the Operations areas; ensure professional accountability for high quality work, and safe / reliable operations effectively and efficiently.
- Provide leadership for the section to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the team with an emphasis on planning, coordinating, and delegating the activities to meet section requirements, employee performance, development, and employee health and safety.
- Participate in leading the development of annual goals and objectives, prepare appropriate operating and capital budgets and maintain an efficient organizational structure.
- Diagnose complex engineering problems and provide engineering solutions for the rehabilitation of existing and the addition of new systems / facilities.
- Oversee, develop and administer the technical, safety and quality aspects of area of responsibility associated with maintenance, alteration, and rehabilitation work carried out on TTC buildings, properties, facilities, equipment, structures or systems.
- Provide project management expertise and leadership to relevant project teams in all various phases of the program.
- Ensure agreement of project objectives, monitor client participation on the project team and integrate client group in the commissioning process; ensure that the resolution of all deficiencies is reviewed with the client before the work is accepted.
- Ensure timely reporting of financial and performance results, including any significant cost, security, safety, human resources and other engineering issues; prepare and present reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with various and diverse contacts both internal and external to the TTC to identify project requirements, schedules, impacts and other interrelated matters.
