What- the Role:

On behalf of Invictus Properties, Swim Recruiting is searching for a new Assistant Controller who will report directly into the Director of Finance (placed by SWIM a few years ago) and who will also work closely with senior leadership in other departments. The new Assistant Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day management of financial reporting, treasury, and taxation matters, including the preparation of financial statements and reports. The accuracy and integrity of the data is paramount and must be performed in a highly confidential manner.
Other primary duties include managing budgets and forecasts, managing payments for approval, allocating funds as and where required and reporting on the effectiveness of these activities.
This role is based in Kamloops, BC.
The Assistant Controller will help to mentor and oversee the work of 2 other people on the accounting team (in AP, AR, & Payroll). This is a diverse role spanning corporate accounting, AP & AR oversight, tax compliance, treasury & cash management, month/quarter/year-end, financial system optimization, etc.
Opportunity to support budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, business decision support, and internal controls & risk management in the future, once the Assistant Controller really understands the business.
Additionally, the Assistant Controller will work with Operations, Sales, Property Management, and other departments to optimize cross-departmental communication and collaboration. Who- the Candidate:

We are looking for a well-rounded accounting professional who enjoys wearing many hats, and who can be very hands-on and detail-oriented while still keeping the big picture in mind.
Qualifications

• CPA designation is highly preferred, otherwise actively pursuing CPA designation (which Invictus will help support)
• We are seeking candidates with at least 5 years of relevant, recent, and progressive experience in full-cycle accounting.
• Strong foundation in financial reporting, general ledger management, and reconciliations
• Currently residing in Kamloops, or happy to fully relocate to Kamloops within 4 to 6 weeks.
• Experience working in real estate, construction, property management hospitality, or restaurant sectors is very beneficial.
• Experience as the right-hand to the top finance leader of a small to mid-size and multi-entity organization would be great.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• High level of integrity with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Effective organizational, problem‑solving, and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience working with multiple accounting systems.
• Experience with payroll processing is an asset.
• Exposure to commercial property management, leasing, or triple‑net leases is a significant asset, as is experience in the hospitality sector.

Kamloops, BC, from the corporate office inside the Delta Hotel at 540 Victoria Street. We are ideally seeking someone who already resides in Kamloops area and is integrated in the Kamloops community, but we are also open to qualified candidates who are very seriously considering a move to Kamloops from elsewhere in BC or even from elsewhere in Canada. How Much:

Base salary commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications (such as CPA designation), in the range of $80,000 to $100,000, plus benefits, an employee assistance program, paid vacation, travel insurance, and a discretionary bonus plan.
