The Parks Division is currently seeking a Park Use Coordinator who excels at relationship building. The successful applicant will liaise with primarily sport organizations and include other park user groups and community partners –– to support the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department in achieving its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will facilitate mutually beneficial outcomes for internal and external projects and initiatives. They will develop, implement and manage formal agreements, coordinate partner projects and build systems to ensure fair, equitable access to Saanich’s park assets. The Park Use Coordinator manages and reports on partnership-related activities and develops and implements policies related to park use services. The Park Use Coordinator will lead policy development and modernization related to park permitting and allocation processes, fees, and levels of service with internal and external stakeholders. Using best practices, this position will analyze and evaluate existing park use systems and provide feasible recommendations to enhance existing – and future – park uses. The Park Use Coordinator is a supervisory position, represents Saanich Parks at regional forums, and develops recommendations for decision-makers.
Requirements include:
- Degree in community development, recreation, public administration or other related field;
- Four years of combined experience in public administration, policy development, change management, leading people (including volunteers), managing capital projects, and special events, agreements or capital projects, preferably in a government setting;
- Proficient in using Microsoft office, Teams, and digital collaboration tools;
- Experience using social media and other software including permitting, volunteer or file management database software;
- International Association of Public Participation training and experience an asset;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and a personal vehicle that meets the requirements described in the Transportation policy, available for use as and when required;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate(s) will work a schedule of Monday to Friday, for 8 hours a day, between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00pm (40 hours per week) As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted.
