The Rehabilitation Assistant is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.
As a Rehabilitation Assistant your typical day will impact the following ways :
- Follow rehabilitation and mobilization program of residents as directed by the treating PT / OT.
- Assists assigned clients with established rehabilitative activities such as mobility and strengthening exercises, walking programs and activities of daily living as directed
- Demonstrate to residents the use of prescribed treatments / adaptive devices such as braces, wheelchairs and walkers and modified eating utensils and personal care items as directed.
- Reports observations of residents' behaviour and progress to Therapist / Nurse; communicates concerns and / or changes to resident condition.
- To maintain an attendance roster for statistical purposes. Stats are to be kept on a daily basis and made available to the consultant PT / OT and Director of Residential Programs.
- Sets up and organizes furnishings and equipment for related activities as directed; cleans and maintains equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
- Maintains an inventory of equipment, devices and materials. To maintain an inventory of equipment, tools and supplies and report malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the Recreation Therapist.
- To provide input into planning and evaluating rehabilitation programs by reporting observations and resident feedback to the Director of Resident Programs, OT and PT.
- May be involved in administrative and program support
- To participate in in-services, staff development programs and serve on committees as needed.
- To demonstrate knowledge of fire / emergency procedures and policies of the home; participate in fire and emergency drills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Wage Leveling rate of pay $30.96 per hour until such time that wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates.
