As a Rehabilitation Assistant with VCH you will :
- Function under the operational supervision of the Manager and the work direction of a licensed designated occupational therapist or physiotherapist to work as a member of the health care team.
- Provide assigned physical / occupational therapy therapeutic interventions.
- Assist in modification of OT / PT care plans and facilitate transition to community programs in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence.
- Provide functional direction to family, report relevant observations of client's condition in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy, and manage equipment safety and inventory.
ABOUT HOME HEALTH PROGRAMS :
Home Health programs provide a range of health care and support services to people living in the community who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs.
THE CLIENT POPULATION :
Home Health clients typically have on-going health issues and / or complex personal and / or social issues, requiring care planning and coordination of appropriate resources.
Clients include frail elderly, younger clients with disabilities, and adults with chronic illnesses requiring supports to maintain / promote independence.
Pacific Spirit serves the West side of Vancouver including Kerrisdale, Arbutus Ridge, Shaughnessy, Kitsilano, Dunbar, Point Grey, and Southlands neighbourhoods, and the UBC Endowment Lands.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program.
- Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Computer literacy skills.

- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
- Ability to motivate clients and to encourage progression through therapeutic goals.
- Demonstrated ability to provide self-care instruction and education.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections.
Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
