Job description

For more than 70 years, Border Paving Ltd. has played a key role in building and maintaining Alberta's infrastructure. From highways and roadways to complex construction projects, our reputation has been built on quality workmanship, safety and long-standing relationships with our customers and the communities we work in.

We are currently hiring experienced Class 1 Truck and Pup Drivers to support our busy upcoming construction season. This role involves hauling aggregate materials from gravel pits and asphalt plants to various jobsites, as well as delivering materials to customers as required. Previous experience backing into an asphalt paver, loading asphalt under a silo, operating a loader and spreading gravel are all considered valuable assets. However, we also welcome candidates who have recently acquired their Class 1 Licence to apply. Our fleet includes both manual and automatic transmissions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate truck and pup configurations safely and efficiently
  • Haul aggregate materials between pits, plants and jobsites
  • Complete daily trip inspections, logbooks and required paperwork using company paper and electronic systems
  • Ensure loads are secure and within legal weight limits
  • Follow all company safety policies, transportation regulations and site requirements
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors and crew members
  • Report equipment issues, incidents and near misses promptly
  • Perform basic equipment care and minor maintenance as needed

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence with current driver's abstract
  • Experience operating Truck and Pup configurations considered an asset
  • Knowledge of safe hauling practices and applicable regulations
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliability and teamwork
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and out of town as required during the construction season (May – November)

What We Offer

  • Competitive wages based on experience
  • Benefits
  • Profit sharing
  • Company Share Ownership Program
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • Steady work during the construction season

Many of our leaders started in field or entry level roles and we believe strongly in promoting from within. We invest in people who demonstrate drive, integrity and leadership.

Backed by decades of experience, Border Paving Ltd. offers long term stability, consistent work and opportunities for growth. If you're looking to build a career with a company that values hard work, reliability and continuous improvement, we would like to hear from you.

Border Paving Ltd. is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing a respectful and inclusive workplace. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
