Job description

Job Title : Public Relations Specialist

Location : In-office, Montreal

Job Overview :

As a PR Specialist , you will report directly to the General Manager , supporting corporate communications and ensuring Valnet and its diverse portfolio of brands maintain a strong, consistent presence across media channels. Based in our dynamic New York City office, this role demands a strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to cultivate and leverage relationships in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Your primary objective is to spearhead PR initiatives that elevate Valnet's reputation, foster media engagement, and maximize exposure for our 25+ industry-leading brands.

Responsibilities :

  • Partner with the General Manager to design and implement PR strategies that align with corporate goals and business objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between Valnet and its brands, ensuring consistent messaging and effective communication across all verticals.
  • Write and distribute press materials, including press releases, executive quotes, and media kits, tailored to various audiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers across industries to secure impactful media placements.
  • Identify opportunities to position Valnet as a thought leader in digital publishing and media investment, both regionally and globally.
  • Manage media inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses that uphold Valnet’s brand integrity.
  • Track and analyze PR campaign performance, sharing actionable insights and recommendations with leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, content, and leadership, to align PR initiatives with business priorities.
  • Oversee crisis communication strategies when needed, ensuring quick, effective action.

Requirements :

  • 5 years + of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or a similar role, preferably in digital media or publishing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven success in developing and executing PR strategies that drive measurable results.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with a portfolio showcasing press materials and secured media coverage.
  • Established relationships with media contacts, particularly in industries relevant to Valnet’s brands.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of media monitoring and PR tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SEO and social media strategies as they relate to PR efforts.
