Baffin Fisheries has an immediate need for an experienced Chief Engineer to join the Inuksuk II, Canada’s largest offshore factory freezer trawler.The Chief Engineer is responsible for technical management on the vessel covering all aspects of the vessel operations, including deck, factory, and engine room machinery and vessel systems.On this highly automated and technologically advanced vessel, a strong background and familiarity with automated systems and electronics is essential.As a key member of the shipboard management team, the Chief Engineer leads in safety, quality, and environmental stewardship to ensure the safest operations producing the highest quality products for the markets we serve.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage the Engineering Team on the vessel to ensure the vessel remains operational with all equipment in proper working condition while following all safe work practices within the Safety Management System
- Responsible for maintenance management, including routine checks, PMs, and troubleshooting; Oversee all contractor work on the vessel and ensure effective inventory management
- Work with the shore based Technical Management Team in all aspects of technical planning including operational budgets, refit / drydocking plans, and any unplanned breakdowns
- Effectively communicate complex technical matters with shore management and OEMs.
Qualifications and Competencies :
Class Motor CoC; STCW MED, TC Marine Medical and all other relevant certificates for work on a Canadian Fishing Vessel
