What is the opportunity?

The Associate Director – FX Spot, Emerging Markets & Options Risk, Group Risk Management will establish and maintain specialized risk oversight for our Foreign Exchange trading businesses. Key responsibilities include:

• Monitor and Evaluate FX Risk Profile: Maintain deep expertise in FX products. Proactively identify, assess, and address FX-specific risk exposures including basis risk, emerging market volatility spikes, and option-related tail risks.

• Define Approved FX Products and Instruments: Develop and enforce frameworks for approved FX spot trades, emerging market currency instruments, and FX derivative products (vanilla and exotic options), ensuring alignment with risk appetite and strategic objectives.

• Design Comprehensive FX Risk Metrics and Limits: Create and implement FX-specific risk measurement frameworks including:

• Greek sensitivities (Delta, Gamma, Vega, Theta) for options portfolios
• Scenario analysis tailored to emerging market stress events
• Value-at-Risk (VaR) models calibrated to FX market microstructure
• Stress testing and shock scenarios reflecting geopolitical and central bank dynamics
• Emerging market-specific volatility assessments

• Ensure Compliance and Policy Adherence: Monitor FX trading activities for compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, with particular attention to emerging market regulations and FX-specific capital frameworks.

What will you do?

• Monitor and Analyze FX Exposure: Perform in-depth analysis of spot, forward, and options positions across G10 and Emerging Market currencies. Track real-time market conditions and geopolitical events to deliver actionable insights on FX risk drivers.

  • Provide Market-Driven Risk Insights: Investigate FX market risks and deliver insights on volatility regimes, emerging market stress scenarios, carry trade, basis trade dynamics, and options-related tail risks to senior management.

  • Evaluate FX Trading Strategies: Assess trading strategies, and hedging programs to ensure appropriate risk-reward profiles and alignment with risk tolerance.

  • Collaborate with FX Trading Teams: Partner closely with spot traders, emerging market specialists, and options traders to address system functionality, Greek exposures, limit management, and emerging market-specific risk controls.

  • Enhance FX Risk Infrastructure: Lead development of FX-specific risk frameworks including product mandates for all currencies, Greeks-based limit structures, and scenario libraries reflecting FX market dynamics.

  • Facilitate Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with trading, treasury, and compliance teams on FX modernization initiatives and emerging market risk assessments.

  • Oversee Significant FX Transactions: Review major spot, options, and emerging market trades to ensure robust controls and adherence to risk policies.

  • Drive Process Improvement: Standardize FX risk processes, including volatility surface monitoring, Greeks aggregation, and ah-hoc market stress scenario updates.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have Qualifications:

• FX Market Expertise (4–8 Years): Extensive hands-on experience in FX trading, risk, or quant roles with demonstrated expertise in:

• FX spot and emerging market currency trading dynamics
• FX derivative pricing and risk (vanilla and exotic options)
• Option Greeks management and non-linear risk measurement
• VaR, Expected Shortfall, and backtesting methodologies
• Stress testing and scenario analysis for FX and emerging market events
• FX market microstructure and carry trade mechanics
• Emerging market currency volatility and geopolitical risk drivers

• Independent and Curious: Works autonomously with strong problem-solving abilities and natural curiosity about FX market dynamics and emerging market trends.

• Strong Team Player with Exceptional Communication: Thrives in collaborative trading environments and clearly articulates complex FX and options concepts to senior leaders.

• Educational Background: MA, MS, or equivalent in Finance, Economics, or Quantitative Discipline with FX or derivatives focus preferred.

• Technical Proficiency:

• Advanced Python (for FX analytics and Greeks calculations)
• Tableau or similar visualization tools
• Bloomberg Terminal (FX modules, volatility surfaces, emerging market data)
• Experience with FX risk platforms (Murex, or similar) a plus

• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to structure complex FX risk problems and derive actionable insights.
