Job description
Note: photo is of some friends teaching our one son to ride a bike. No faces shown for privacy reasons. We are a family of 4 (plus 2 dogs) located in Prince Edward county, Ontario (NOT PEI)-- close to sandbanks provincial park-- seeking a full-time live-in nanny (or several live-out assistants) for our 9mo old and 2.5 yr old. We will need daily assistance from approx 6am until 9pm, but realistically this can be broken up into shifts for several people. Both parents would be present in the home at all times as one works remote and the other is on a leave and is recovering from a medical disability. The length of this position is not yet known as one of the parents has developed a medical condition which prohibits being a full-time caregiver but at the very minimum we are talking about 6 months. The hope is that the one parent will be fully recovered within 12 mo and so the nanny position would not be needed beyond one year. We are looking for someone who is educated in general, has experience living apart from their family or even outside their home country and is adaptable to living in different or new places and is fully fluent in conversational Canadian English. The ideal person has no concerning behaviours from their references, has good meal prep skills and ideally can cook a dish or two, is confident, energetic, disciplined, responsible, and knowledgeable about childhood needs and possesses at the very least basic knowledge about brain development and how children learn and grow. For example you must speak and interact with the children and teach them skills in a developmentally appropriate manner (other helpers in the past were too nervous to even talk to the kids and/ot us). In this role, you will be helping with for caring for our 2 kids, helping them get dressed, and with potty training, eating their meals, and doing their bedtime routines plus clean up and meal preparation.... Basically subbing in for one of the parents, and this includes meal prep assistance as well. The older child has a daycare they attend 5x/wk and the younger one will start daycare full-time in September 2026. Until then, once the older one has gone to daycare, you would be caring for the younger one while doing meal prep for the evening. After September (with both kids in daycare) the work be more relaxed and would revolve around to tidying the house and meal prep during the day and then helping bring order to the chaos when the kids get home around 4pm. We have two large dogs that you would need to be comfortable with. We also have lots of land that is green and peaceful. We value a proactive and intuitive approach to housekeeping and meal prep, so you shouldn't need much guidance or prompting once you get the hang of things. If you have favorite dishes you love to make you are welcome to introduce them to us :) You would have a large private bedroom and bathroom with skylight windows in a separate part of the house, should you be interested in a live in role. (Live out is an option and we would then need to break the day into shifts with multiple helpers.) We live in a rural area where you CANNOT walk to a nearby store. Access to the nearby small town requires a car and there is NO PUBLIC TRANSIT but we do have good internet atleast. We are nice people who will take good care of you. We ask that you play a confident, helpful and engaging role in our home and that you can see what needs to be done and do it without being asked. If this is you we will work out well. We can offer $20-25 CAD per hour depending on your experience and skills. If you are interested in assisting our family and feel we are your ideal client, please message us. We look forward to hearing from you! PS.
