Overview
Quality Control Chemist role at Apotex Corp. (Analytical QC). The Chemist Analytical QC QS4 carries out work related to quality control, stability, method transfer, validation, and standard studies according to Standard Operating Procedure.
Responsibilities
- Develop and demonstrate a basic understanding of test methods / SOPs / compendia and Certificates of Analysis.
- Proper labelling, inspection of and sampling of finished products, intermediates, raw materials, recovered materials, etc. to ensure conformity with established standards.
- Test raw materials, intermediates, finished products, R&D samples, environmental samples, etc. and perform physical testing of packaging components and chemical testing of samples according to test methods / SOPs / compendia and Certificates of Analysis.
- Make routine decisions around simple task priorities but follow SOPs; seek input from higher level team members in non-routine matters.
- Report all testing results and deviations; utilize basic analytical knowledge in investigations.
- Document analytical data and information; self-review data for accuracy and keep records of retain, stability and standard samples; ensure proper storage of samples.
- Under guidance, release finished products, intermediates, raw materials and recovered materials upon approval by department management.
- Report problems related to instruments and methods to the Supervisor / Manager promptly.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe workplace.
- Identify needs for chemicals, gases, standards, glassware and other accessories under guidance.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment according to the department’s calibration program; report results and deviations to the supervisor.
- Liaise with higher level laboratory personnel to learn use of applicable testing equipment and understand departmental / regulatory practices; may liaise with other departments.
- Demonstrate personal leadership attributes and commit to ongoing professional development; seek performance feedback to identify gaps.
- Work safely as part of a team to achieve outcomes.

- Adhere to all compliance programs including Global Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Global Quality policies and procedures, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies.
