Job descriptionWell‑developed organizational skills Excellent communications skills Excellent time management skills Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to a operate computerized system Ability to multi‑task and take direction Minimum 2 years post‑secondary education diploma in a field such as Laboratory Technician, Environmental Technician, and / or Biology, Science, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering Technician, or Water Resources. Laboratory experience an asset. Ability to obtain Operator in Training certificate within 6 months from date of hire. Ability to obtain Wastewater Treatment Level 1 certification within 1 year from date of hire. Possess a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license. Ability to produce a satisfactory criminal record check and driver’s abstract as conditions of employment.

About the role
Responsible for maintaining and operating all process control and other related equipment in the operations of the Municipality’s Wastewater Plants and related pumping stations in a safe manner, ensuring legislative compliance and public safety. Responsible for collecting samples in conjunction with the Sewer Use By‑law. Must be available for call‑out and on‑call work, as required. This is a unionized position with CUPE 3945.
Salary Range
$30.07–$34.29 per hour based on 40 hours per week, plus standby pay. This is a permanent full‑time position.
