Columbia Basin Trust is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer – Electrical. This role supports the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Trust's hydroelectric generating assets. As a Senior Reliability Engineer – Electrical, you will deliver technical expertise to support maintenance program execution, lead root‑cause investigations, and drive capital improvement efforts, while managing projects that enhance equipment reliability and performance.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Castlegar, where you'll enjoy a collaborative and supportive team environment and the unique lifestyle of the West Kootenay region.

Salary Range: $121,000 – $142,200

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, you will:

  • Develop and implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs, using the Trust's CMMS program to enhance asset performance and proactively manage emerging risks.
  • Provide technical leadership for equipment and system reliability, including support for maintenance planning, budgeting, capital projects, and compliance with regulatory and reliability standards.
  • Develop and manage reliability-focused projects from scope and cost estimates to procurement, execution, and on-site technical support during installation and commissioning.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing engineering documentation, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, and enhancing engineering practices and technical libraries.
  • Support incident response, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to minimize forced outages and prevent recurrence.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or eligibility for registration.
  • 7-10+ years of demonstrated experience in a related engineering field, preferably within hydroelectric or power generation facilities.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Excellent computer applications skills for a variety of systems related to engineering programs and the ability to operate the related software for specific engineering needs.

Why Join Us?

  • Impactful Work: Support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of hydroelectric facilities that power communities across the Columbia Basin.
  • Shape a Team: Contribute to a growing operations team and new processes.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work in a safe, accountable and professional environment.
  • Professional Growth: Access training and development opportunities.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Receive competitive compensation and benefits, including generous vacation and flex time provisions.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy the lifestyle, recreation and culture of the West Kootenay region.
