Job Summary

The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) plays a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children within the Childcare Centre. The RECE will be responsible for planning and implementing age‑appropriate programs and activities that foster learning and development, supporting the emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of each child. Responsibilities include ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the classroom, toys, and learning materials; assisting with mealtimes, rest periods, and transitions between activities; managing behaviours; promoting inclusive practices; fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere; maintaining detailed documentation of children’s progress, incidents, and attendance; and collaborating with families to support each child’s development. The RECE will ensure that children are supervised at all times and are actively engaged in learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of classroom, toys, and materials
  • Assist with mealtimes, rest periods, and transitions
  • Manage behaviours and promote inclusive practices
  • Maintain accurate documentation of progress, incidents, and attendance
  • Collaborate with families to support child development
  • Supervise children at all times and facilitate active learning experiences
  • Education

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma from a recognized post‑secondary institute and enrollment with the College of ECE; or
  • Registration in an Early Childhood Education Diploma program with an expected completion date within 2 years
  • Valid First Aid / CPR certification
  • Experience

  • Previous experience in a childcare centre (asset)
  • Previous experience working with First Nation children and / or families (asset)
  • Mandatory Documentation With Application

  • Recent Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within 30 days), at own expense
  • Negative TB skin test and complete immunisation records
  • Copy of applicable educational qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc.)
