Job description

Tikvah Director – Inclusion and Support Program

Part‑Time (September–June) | Full‑Time (June–August)

Reports to : Camp Co‑Directors

Camp Ramah in Canada is a premier Jewish overnight camp located on beautiful Skeleton Lake in Muskoka, Ontario. For over 65 years, Ramah has been a place where campers of all abilities grow, learn, and experience the joy of Jewish community in a warm and inclusive environment.

Our Tikvah Program supports campers with disabilities and diverse learning needs, ensuring that everyone is valued, included, and able to fully participate in camp life — from swimming and sports to Shabbat celebrations and cabin life.

Position Overview

Camp Ramah in Canada is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and collaborative Tikvah Director to lead our inclusion program year-round and onsite during the summer. The Tikvah Director plays a key role in ensuring that campers with disabilities are fully supported, understood, and included in all aspects of camp life.

Year‑Round Responsibilities (September–June)

  • Partner with the Camp Co‑Directors to review camper applications and identify inclusion needs.
  • Communicate with families to understand camper strengths, needs, and goals.
  • Develop camper support plans and oversee implementation and parent communication.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training members of the Tikvah staff team.
  • Contribute to pre‑camp and in‑camp staff training sessions; prepare resources and materials for summer.

Summer Responsibilities (June–August)

  • Provide daily and ongoing support for Tikvah campers; develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide Tikvah staff, addressing challenges and supporting their success.
  • Communicate regularly with parents to share updates and collaborate on strategies for camper growth.
  • Offer ongoing support to staff across camp who may require guidance; develop individualized strategies to be implemented by supervisors.
  • Work closely with the Summer Leadership Team — including the Camp Co‑Directors, Rashei Eidot (unit heads), Yoatzot (parent liaisons), medical team, specialists, and program staff — to ensure inclusive practices camp‑wide.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, psychology, child development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience working with children with disabilities in educational, therapeutic, or recreational settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and families.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to problem‑solve in real time.
  • Maturity, professionalism, and discretion in managing sensitive camper needs and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a strong team‑oriented mindset.
  • Compensation

  • $8,000 – $10,000 for summer employment
  • $2,500 for pre‑summer year‑round work
  • To Apply : please email your resume to info@campramah.com.
