As Canada’s leading integrated freight, package, and logistics provider, we’ve been helping promises get where they need to be for more than 60 years. How does the magic happen? The journey starts with you. The places we go, the elements we brave, the promises we deliver – it’s all possible because of our people. So, whether you’re looking to build new skills, make an impact in your community, or inspire your team, we go there for you.

As a member of the Learning and Development team, the Operations Trainer is responsible for ensuring that new and existing employees are trained and compliant with regulatory, safety, and health and safety training requirements at Purolator facilities. The incumbent will work closely with the Learning and Development, Operations, and Human Resources teams to identify and deliver new training programs and refresher training through communications and Learning Management System (LMS) reporting.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and evaluate employees on proper procedures and performance standards, including hands-on demonstrations, ride-alongs, and competency-based assessments (across all Operations groups).
• Train facilitators; coach and mentor facilitators; and maintain a facilitator network.
• Maintain and update all training records in the Learning Management System (LMS) for all Operations employees under their responsibility.
• Facilitates cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment on training objectives.
• Coordinate scheduling and logistics for new hires.
• Support on-the-job trainers and seasonal workplace trainers.
• Deliver classroom or virtual training to front-line Operations employees.
• Oversee compliance and regulatory training for the Operations groups they support.
• Provide ongoing feedback on training programs based on input from Operations, HR, and employees.
• Travel may be required.
• Variable work schedule (days, afternoons, evenings, weekends) based on operational needs.
• Work at designated Purolator facilities.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Experience

• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong, proven presentation skills with diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to achieve strategic goals and objectives.
• One to three years of hands-on training experience (adult learning principles).
• Experience training, coaching, and evaluating employees on proper procedures and performance standards, including hands-on demonstrations.
• Previous experience influencing and collaborating with front-line Operations to achieve training objectives.
• Knowledge of Purolator operating procedures is an asset.
• Must pass both a written and practical driving test.
• Must complete or have completed Purolator’s Train-the-Trainer program.
• Must complete or have completed Purolator’s Defensive Driving and Courier Methods and Procedures training.
• Must hold a valid non-probationary driver’s licence.
• Clean driving record (please upload your current driver’s abstract with your résumé).
• Understanding of adult learning principles; diploma or certificate is an asset.
• Experience using digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams and WebEx is required.
• Bilingualism is mandatory (in Quebec).
• Ability to travel 20% to 70% of the time to Purolator facilities.
• Flexibility with work schedule to meet business needs.

Language Requirement: Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.
