Your Role as a Senior Civil Engineer:
Choose your own adventure! Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home at JLR. As a Senior Civil Engineer in the Mining Market, your role will include:
- Leading multidisciplinary teams through the full project lifecycle—from due diligence and concept through detailed design, tendering, contract administration, commissioning, and closeout.
- Designing mine site civil works: haul roads and access, laydowns and yards, drainage and mine water management, ponds and channels, grading, underground/utility servicing, and interfaces with processing facilities.
- Coordinating with mining & geotechnical teams to integrate civil designs into mine development plans, tailings/waste management strategies, water balance, and site access logistics.
- Driving technical excellence by setting design approaches, conducting/overseeing calculations, reviews, and QA/QC, and resolving construction phase issues.
- Leading client engagement, including identifying opportunities and scope of work, preparing proposals/budgets, and expanding JLR’s mining portfolio.
- Mentoring technologists and junior engineers; championing knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Visiting various mine sites as needed (primarily Northern Ontario; occasional travel across Canada) to support investigations, surveys, and construction.
