DUTIES
Memorial University's Faculty of Medicine is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to join a team supporting education and research outcomes, transforming lives, enriching economic growth, and inspiring future leaders. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of donor relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations. The Senior Development Officer - Medicine will report jointly to the Dean of Medicine and the Associate Director of Development.
The incumbent will implement fundraising strategies aligned with university goals, maintain a portfolio of active donors, and oversee fundraising processes including supervising staff, managing campaigns, and administrative duties. Responsibilities also include developing and executing individual and campaign-specific fundraising strategies, managing major gift portfolios, and supporting senior leadership in donor relations.
Key duties involve achieving personal fundraising targets, identifying priorities with the Faculty of Medicine, and managing the full donor engagement cycle from prospect discovery to stewardship. The role also includes supporting relationship management and ensuring proper administration and reporting of fundraising activities.
Qualifications
Requirements include 5-7 years of experience in fundraising, resource development, or related fields, preferably in education, healthcare, or nonprofit sectors. A bachelor's degree is required, with experience in cultivating donors and securing major gifts preferred. Skills needed include relationship management, strategic planning, excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and sound judgment. Experience managing staff and a CFRE designation are assets. Willingness to work flexible hours, attend events, and travel within the country is required.
Salary & Benefits
Salary ranges from $67,414 to $91,929 annually, plus a market differential of $18,357.
