Position DescriptionGENERAL OVERVIEWCornerstone Christian Community Church is a non-profit, Christian organization. The Church operates a community centre-style facility that is open 7 days per week and serves the community whether through church on Sundays or other events and programs throughout the week. You bring creativity and strategic thinking to our programs; pointing children to Jesus every step of the way. You will need strong organizational skills as you manage both short and long term projects and schedules. This is also an opportunity to grow your leadership and mentoring skills in a supportive environment as you lead youth and young adults on our summer camp staff team. Under the supervision of the Children’s Ministry Director, the Associate Children’s Ministry Director will : Collaborate in planning and executing StarKids programs for children ages 15 months to Grade 5Oversee summer camp programs and temporary camp staff for ages SK to Grade 12. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRegular Sunday, Midweek Programming, and volunteer team leadership Provide direction and encouragement to Sunday team with a focus of leadership development for our Children’s Ministry team membersAid in schedule managementHelp facilitate new volunteer onboarding and ongoing team member trainingCommunicate with parents as neededCreatively explore ways to develop programming that is in line with Cornerstone’s annual ministry theme / objectives as it relates to children and familiesStep into / assist (including teaching) in different classroom roles as needed Summer Camp programs and staffingA. Kids’ Camps (ages 4-11 years) Oversee development of camp theme, objectives and contentManage budget and registration feesCommunicate and connect with parents and campers Day-to-day leadership and supervision of Kids’ Camp personnel and operationsB. Overall camp coordination Oversee coordination and use of building and resources for all summer campsApply for and manage summer staffing grants where applicableOversee recruitment, hiring and training of summer staffSeek out opportunities to connect with our neighbours with the intention of providing camp programs based on the needs of our community OtherOccasional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Children’s Ministry Director or the Executive TeamSKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Post Secondary education related to children or families preferred2+ years of experience working with children or familiesFamiliar with Google Suite (docs, sheets, slides) QUALIFICATIONS A deep personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian ministry.Friendly, welcoming and caring disposition towards both children and adultsStrong communication skills – both written and verbal.
