Job description
Our Edmonton client is seeking a Senior Data Architect for a long term contract to lead the modernization of their justice reporting systems. This critical initiative involves consolidating several isolated data marts into a unified enterprise data warehouse. You will drive the shift toward a faster, user friendly reporting architecture that preserves historical records and improves data governance. It is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on a large scale public sector system.

Responsibilities
• Define and manage the overall enterprise data architecture strategies, methods and guidelines.
• Review existing reporting data marts and perform detailed data profiling on core tables.
• Analyze data structures to create design specifications and identify dimensions for fact tables.
• Develop and test extract transform load processes to migrate legacy information.
• Build Power BI reports to support quality assurance testing of data models.
• Create transition plans that guide current assets toward the ideal future state setup.
• Establish architectural reviews to ensure project alignment with broader organizational strategies.

Qualifications
• Degree in computer science or a related field with eight years of enterprise data architect experience.
• Eight years of experience designing, planning and implementing database solutions in large, complex environments.
• Eight years documenting legacy systems and recording as built implementations after multiple iterations.
• Five years of experience working with SQL data warehouses and querying data using Transact SQL.
• Five years of experience utilizing business intelligence products such as Cognos BI and MS Power BI.
