Job description
Our client, a leading Canadian commercial property and casualty insurance provider, is seeking an experienced Data Quality Engineer (Contract) with 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Quality, Data Warehouse testing, and ETL validation.

In this key leadership role within the data engineering space, you will possess strong technical expertise, lead a team of data quality engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of enterprise data platforms. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of modern data ecosystems, data quality automation, and a proven track record of driving success within Agile environments to support business-critical reporting and analytics initiatives.

Advantages
Flexible Hybrid Model: Enjoy work-life balance with up to 2 days per week working remotely from home, along with schedule flexibility.

Competitive Compensation: Earn a competitive contract rate of $60 - $65/hr CAD, depending on experience and skills.

Team Leadership & Impact: Opportunity to mentor and guide a dedicated team while shaping enterprise-wide data strategies.

Modern Enterprise Ecosystem: Gain exposure to large-scale cloud data platforms, complex data warehousing, and cutting-edge ETL/ELT technologies.

Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Data Quality Engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and establishing QA best practices.

Data Strategy & Testing: Define and implement enterprise-wide data quality strategies for Data Warehouse and modern cloud data platforms.

Requirement Analysis: Translate complex business requirements into comprehensive data validation scenarios and end-to-end test strategies.

Pipeline Validation: Validate end-to-end ETL/ELT data pipelines to ensure absolute data accuracy, integrity, and completeness.

Automation Frameworks: Design, develop, and maintain automated data quality and regression testing frameworks.

Data Profiling & Reconciliation: Perform source-to-target validation, reconciliation, transformation testing, and data profiling.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve data quality issues.

Root Cause Analysis: Identify root causes of data anomalies and partner with development teams to drive permanent resolutions.

Agile Integration: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

Governance & Monitoring: Establish data quality metrics, dashboards, and governance practices to continuously monitor data health.

Release Verification: Support release validation, production deployments, and post-release data verification.

Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Quality Engineering, ETL/Data Warehouse testing, or related Data Engineering roles.

Leadership: Proven experience leading, managing, or mentoring a team of Data Quality or QA professionals.

Agile Expertise: Strong background working within Agile software development environments.

Education: Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).

Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of modern data ecosystems, automated data testing tools, source-to-target reconciliation, and complex SQL/ETL validation methodologies.

Summary
This contract opportunity is ideal for a senior Data Quality Engineer or Data Engineering leader looking to make a visible impact within a top-tier Canadian enterprise. If you bring a strong background in ETL validation, data warehouse testing, and team leadership within Agile environments, we encourage you to apply.

Please submit your resume for immediate consideration.
