Are you looking to launch your career in the dynamic world of banking and finance? Randstad is thrilled to partner with a leading global financial institution to find a talented Cost Analyst to join their growing team in Halifax.

In this exciting entry-level role, the Cost Analyst will sit within the Capital Markets division, working as part of a high-performing Trade Expense Management team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely, accurate, and efficient processing of third-party trade execution invoices through a cutting-edge global central utility system. Collaborating closely with internal control, governance, and business support functions, you will help provide unmatched transparency into trade expense cost bases, volumes, and drivers. This is a 6 month contract position offering 37.5 hours per week. While initially a stable regular placement, our client regularly reviews talent for long-term growth, providing an excellent foot-in-the-door opportunity with strong possibilities for contract extension or permanent conversion based on performance and business needs. The position operates on a modern Hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site at the vibrant Halifax, NS office, allowing you to enjoy both the flexibility of remote work and the collaborative energy of an in-person team.

Responsibilities
-Monitor incoming mail for assigned invoices and contact vendors when expected invoices have not been received
-Reconcile invoices and calculate internal business allocations following business agreed methodology Investigate reconciliation discrepancies and coordinate resolution with vendor and trading business
-Document variances to best practice and provide to team lead for approval
-Prepare allocation templates and post to financial systems
-Arrange vendor payment through accounts payable or manual payment
-Manage special financial scenarios: accruals, prepayments, journals, etc.
-Prepare reports for and respond to inquiries from various parties including the trading business, product control, financial control
-Perform cost analysis identifying material trends and drivers and/or opportunities for savings
-Perform business analysis and testing in relation to onboarding of new invoices or enhancements to processing of existing invoices
-Work on assigned projects in the areas of process improvement and automation

Qualifications
Must-have
-BBA / BComm / BSc / BA
-1 -2 years experience working in a Capital Markets, Securities Trading, Brokerage or similar environment
-Knowledge of basic accounting concepts
-Knowledge of the firm's financial systems and booking processes in relation to assigned invoices
-Knowledge of products and services in relation to assigned invoices
-Ability to communicate information to trading business and senior management
-Highly organized with an attention to detail and an ability to analyze information
-Advanced knowledge of Excel, VBA and SQL
