Are you a Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation and Robotics student who enjoys working with machinery, troubleshooting equipment, and solving technical problems? We're looking for a motivated co-op student eager to gain hands-on experience supporting automation, PLC programming, electrical controls, and manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Global Leader, Continuous Improvement, the Engineering Technician Co-op Student will support manufacturing automation, electrical controls, machine commissioning, PLC programming, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives while working alongside our Engineering and Maintenance teams.

Acton, Ontario
Responsibilities
- Assist with electrical control panel design and panel layout.
- Support power and control wiring for production machinery and automation equipment.
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Siemens experience is an asset).
- Assist with machine commissioning, testing, and validation.
- Troubleshoot electrical, control, and PLC-related issues on manufacturing equipment.
- Prepare and update electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Perform hands-on electrical panel wiring and installation activities.
- Assist with pneumatic system troubleshooting and basic circuit modifications.
- Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement projects.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in 3rd or 4th year Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or a related post-secondary program.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical controls and electrical panel design.
- Familiarity with PLC programming; Siemens experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software is an asset.
- Manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a manufacturing environment.
