Duties and Responsibilities

As part of the Multi Care Kidney Clinic, the Administrative Assistant I will exercise judgment or decision‑making to provide secretarial and clerical services in support of administrative and / or professional personnel.

  • Perform word‑processing / typing services for assigned personnel
  • Provide support with small and informal meetings or events
  • Maintain written and electronic calendar / schedules
  • Manage electronic and paper filing / retrieval systems, modifying methods and formats as needed
  • Perform routine budgetary support functions
  • Provide functional supervision to lower‑classified clerical positions
  • Ensure efficient operation of the department
  • Perform other related clerical activities
  • Perform cross‑functional responsibilities, as assigned
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
  • Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized post‑secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • Two (2) years related secretarial experience
  • Experience in a Microsoft Office environment, with computer / word‑processing, database and spreadsheet software skills
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multitask, using good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience in a health‑care environment is an asset
  • Ability to produce high‑quality work in accordance with hospital standards
  • Strong knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset
