The Winnipeg Indigenous Friendship Centre (WIFC) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is called to lead with vision, accountability, and heart. This is more than a job—it is an opportunity to shape the future of a centre that has served Winnipeg’s urban Indigenous community since 1958. As we rebuild and reimagine what a Friendship Centre can be, we invite a leader to help us honour our past while forging a vibrant, community-led path forward.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all operations, programs, and staff.
Champion programs and services that reflect Indigenous values and support Elders, youth, families, and 2SLGBTQIA+ community members.
Build and nurture collaborative partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, allies, governments, and funders.
Lead capital development and fundraising efforts, including the visioning and realization of a new Friendship Centre facility.
Be the public face and voice of WIFC, advocating for justice, equity, and cultural renewal on behalf of our community.

What You Bring

Has lived experience or strong relational ties within Indigenous communities and is guided by cultural humility and Indigenous worldviews.

Brings senior leadership experience, ideally within Indigenous-led, non-profit, or community-based organizations.

Is a strategic thinker with demonstrated success in organizational growth, program development, fundraising, and financial stewardship.

Understands the ongoing impacts of colonization and is committed to Truth and Reconciliation in action—not just in words.

Leads with kindness, transparency, and respect, and creates culturally safe and accountable spaces for staff and community.
