Job Summary The City of Woodstock is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team on a four-month, temporary basis as the Economic Development Student.
The Economic Development Student works closely with the entire Economic Development Department to build the City’s brand and advance the City’s economic development program.
The successful candidate will play an active role in day-to-day departmental activities and be responsible for maintaining statistical data which is used regularly by the department.
This person will support the entire Economic Development and should expect to work with staff in other City departments as well.
They will apply their academic and technical skills and will be encouraged to recommend no processes and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the Economic Development team to develop a detailed work plan and create updated website content, refreshing the department’s online presence.
Maintain and update departmental databases, including the City’s Industrial Directory.
Assist all staff in the Economic Development Department including the Downtown Development Officer and Small Business Centre in delivering a variety of key initiatives.
Support various economic development partnerships in which the City of Woodstock is an active member.
Support planning and implementation of activities associated with Woodstock’s 125 th anniversary.
Perform additional tasks as assigned to contribute to the success of the Economic Development team.
Qualifications Working towards a post-secondary degree in Economic Development, Business or a related field and must be returning to school in the fall Have an understanding or experience in the municipal sector.
Have experience using Microsoft Office as well as a Content Management System.
An understanding of Marketing or marketing experience would be an asset.
Have excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
