  • In addition to paid vacation each year, five personal days, sick days as necessary, and our offices are closed from December 25 to January 1

  • A hybrid work model that truly balances work and personal life

POSITION OVERVIEW

As the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, BDC supports the growth of small and medium‑sized businesses across Canada. The Regional Director, Corporate Financing is responsible for driving growth and profitability of BDC’s corporate financing portfolio in Ontario by leading a team focused on the organization’s largest and most complex clients. This role combines people leadership, credit expertise, and business development to deliver sustainable portfolio growth while operating within defined risk parameters. Your work contributes directly to the success of Canadian businesses, in an environment where you can be yourself at work.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Grow a profitable corporate financing portfolio while maintaining expected loss rates and risk metrics aligned with BDC’s credit policies and risk appetite.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a geographically dispersed team of Corporate Financing Directors to deliver consistent performance and client experience across Ontario.

  • Balance business development, credit oversight, and people leadership in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.

  • Strengthen collaboration between Corporate Financing and regional business centres to maximize client impact and retention.

  • Identify high‑growth sectors and structure creative financing solutions that address sophisticated entrepreneurs’ financing and advisory needs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.

  • 7–10 years of experience in corporate financing, commercial lending, credit, or a comparable financial services leadership role.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing senior account managers or directors in commercial or corporate lending.

  • Strong credit acumen, including transaction structuring, risk assessment, and presenting credit proposals to credit risk or adjudication committees.

  • Proven ability to source, structure, and recommend complex financing transactions within defined risk parameters.

  • Experience building and executing portfolio growth, customer retention, and relationship management strategies.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and business judgment skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CFA designation.

  • Experience managing large, complex loan portfolios with profitability, revenue growth, and expected loss targets.

  • Established relationships with financial institutions, industry associations, or professional advisory networks in Ontario.

  • Bilingualism in English and French.

Proudly one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers, we are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible environment where all employees can thrive and feel empowered to bring their whole selves to work. If you require an accommodation to complete your application, please do not hesitate to contact us at accessibility@bdc.ca.

While we appreciate all applications, we advise that only the candidates selected to participate in the recruitment process will be contacted.
