Allied is looking for a Building Operator to join our Technical Services team. At Allied, everything starts with purpose. What will you do?

  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure smooth building operations and efficiency.
  • Conduct inspections and complete repairs, as necessary, on all site mechanical, electrical, and HVAC/BAS systems and related equipment.
  • Support the inspection, monitoring and testing of building security and life safety systems, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Respond to tenant concerns in a timely manner and assist in finding appropriate solutions.
  • Complete minor maintenance and repairs as required, including carpentry, drywall and paint, lamp replacement, lubrication of doors, washrooms and fixtures, among others.
  • Respond and assist with seasonal building requirements, including snow clearing and removal, salting, and seasonal planting and watering.
  • Carry out execution of all preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure service contracts are enforced, service levels are achieved, and contractors are adequately supervised when on site.
  • Maintain shop and equipment inventory and cleanliness, requesting replacement inventory as required.
  • Respond to after-hour calls and/or emergencies.

What are we looking for?

  • 2 years’ experience in building operations and general maintenance in a commercial, retail, or industrial environment.
  • Foundational knowledge of building operations, life safety, and building systems, including HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems,
  • An assertive self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Collaborative, team player.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime to respond to emergencies and business demands.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Would be an asset:
  • Certificate of Building Environmental Systems: BES I & II, SMA/SMT, 4th Class Power Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of energy management practices, heat transfer principles, and sustainability.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) and First Aid and CPR training.
  • Experience in working at heights and use of booms and lifts.
  • Knowledge of Yardi FM or other building management systems.
