Position Summary :

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer fosters buying practices in alignment with company objectives and supports the daily operations of the Purchasing Department. The Senior Buyer embraces a leadership role within the department and provides guidance to Buyers as needed.

Position Responsibilities :

The Senior Buyer is responsible for the following :

• Developing and utilizing the MRP system (Syspro) to its full capability;
• Collaborating with various departments to ensure business needs are understood and met;
• Strategically planning purchases while optimizing and streamlining the supplier base;
• Maintaining and developing supplier relationships at all levels;
• Proactively communicating with suppliers and service providers (i.e., freight forwarders);
• Investigating and resolving supply issues using tactical and strategic approaches, expediting to meet urgent needs and implementing contingencies to mitigate future risks;
• Ensuring continuous communication with stakeholders;
• Forecasting product requirements;
• Determining optimal safety stock levels and ensuring such levels are consistently met and / or adjusted as appropriate based on changing demand;
• Monitoring inventory levels;
• Ensuring MRP planning parameters are accurately maintained;
• Introducing cost savings and cost avoidances, savvy buying practices, challenging supplier price increases, negotiate price decreases, leveraging economies of scale, etc.
• Representing Purchasing at bi-weekly scheduling meetings, as required;
• Representing Purchasing as department lead when the Purchasing Manager is absent, as required;
• Identifying opportunities for improvement;
• Preparing various reports as necessary;
• Supporting and contributing to strategic initiatives to ensure continuous improvement;
• Other duties as assigned.

Competitive salary of $65,000 to $85,000 plus profit sharing and benefits.
