Job description

The Role

Reporting to the Product Development Manager, the Product Developer – Level 2 supports the technical development of Keilhauer products by translating concepts and information into accurate, usable data and applying feedback to refine designs. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and continued hands-on learning to build proficiency in surface modelling and product development processes.

In this role, the Product Developer – Level 2 creates 3D CAD files for product components and assemblies based on preliminary concepts. They produce engineering drawings and supporting documentation, verify model accuracy, and prepare technical information used for analytical testing, prototyping, tooling, and production readiness.

This highly technical role is best suited to a detail-oriented, analytical thinker who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively, and contributing to practical, manufacturable product solutions that support Keilhauer’s mission of making work comfortable for all.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain 3D parametric CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and supplementary documentation using Creo and related tools.
  • Translate preliminary product concepts into accurate technical data to support product development, analytical testing, prototyping, tooling, and production readiness.
  • Verify model accuracy, complete medium-complexity product development procedures, and measure, validate, and document first-off parts against approved data.
  • Support surface modelling, 3D scanning, digitizing, sittable prototype development, assembly details, and use of Engineering analysis tools.
  • Participate in design and development discussions by providing technical input that supports practical, manufacturable product solutions.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Designers, Product Development, Engineering, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve technical questions.
  • Identify and communicate issues related to component geometry, assembly fit, 2D drawings, or 3D modelling so they can be addressed in a timely manner.
  • Apply feedback, follow established procedures, and respond to requests efficiently while continuing to build technical proficiency through hands-on work.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably using Creo or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical drafting, drawing standards, assembly design, parts design, and tolerance application.
  • Experience with surfacing design and designing parts for a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, communicate technical information clearly, and respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other technical programs.
