Requirements Thorough knowledge of principles and practices relatedto the trades inspectional field of responsibility. Thoroughknowledge of the relevant municipal bylaws and provincialregulations, codes and standards.
Considerable knowledge of thedepartmental policies, procedures and practices related to thework. Ability to understand, interpret and apply the BC BuildingCode, bylaws, regulations, plans and specifications, to recognizetechnical requirements and to suggest changes and corrections asrequired.
Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work ofsubordinate staff. Ability to read, understand and interpret plansand specifications;
recognize technical requirements and suggestand enforce changes or corrections as required. Ability torecognize faulty construction or hazardous conditions pertaining tostructural stability of buildings.
Ability to establish andmaintain effective working relationships with a variety of internaland external contacts and to enforce regulations and codes withfairness, impartiality and good judgement.
Ability to assist indeveloping policies and procedures and to prepare a variety ofreports related to the work.
