Position Summary :
Reporting to the Director, Publication, the Graphic Designer is responsible for asset creation and organization, and laying out content in an accurate, suitable, timely, and appealing manner, using mainly Illustrator, Figma, and InDesign to transform manuscripts to print-ready layout.
The Graphic Designer coordinates with other team members to ensure quality and consistency of output, ensuring that freelance and in-house layout files are in compliance with specified formats / styles.
The Graphic Designer also makes suitable revisions or changes in overall design (or new design as needed) and maintains strong communication with freelancers.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours / week) short term contract role for up to 6 months.
Location of Work : This role is mainly remote, but you may be required occasionally to attend in person meetings at the JUMP Math office or attend programs on site within the GTA.
Salary Range : $54,200 $61,000 based on experience

Key Accountabilities :
- Lay out manuscript using InDesign, or work with programmers, following JUMP Math production standards and guidelines
- Ensure that writers’ manuscript is of adequate quality at production handover
- Create and layout artwork using Illustrator and Figma, following standards and guidelines
- Work with editors and writers to resolve design issues / problems
- Ensure layouts are completed in a timely fashion and deadlines are met
- Coordinates with other Graphic Designers to ensure quality and compatibility
- Outsource work to freelancers, providing oversight and support to ensure quality and compatibility
- Address freelance issues and make recommendations as to ongoing freelance resources / assignments
- Report at weekly production meetings, updating on status of files and production issues
- Participate in recruitment and training of new in-house graphic designers and freelancers
- Other design work as required

- Highly proficient computer skills on PC Adobe CC (Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, Microsoft 365
- Vector illustration skills

Education and Experience (minimums) :
- A minimum 2 years’ experience using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
- Figma experience an asset
- Post-secondary Graphic Design Degree or Diploma or equivalent work experience
- Textbook-format publishing experience
- Production pre-press experience an asset but not required
