Job Overview

Stelco has an immediate opening for an Account Manager within the Commercial Department, located in Hamilton, Ontario or Detroit, Michigan.

The Account Manager will be responsible for managing a set group of customers working in conjunction with Commercial Management.

An Account Manager is exposed to various aspects of Stelco’s overall business. The interaction with the customer and multiple functional groups within the company provide a well-rounded basic knowledge of the order-to-cash process from beginning to end.

Safety is the Core Value of Stelco, and the individual will make Safety the #1 priority in the execution of all work activities, including monitoring contractor / vendor safety in support of work efforts.

This position reports to the VP of Sales.

Job Responsibilities

Grow established customer base and develop long-term customer relationships

Negotiate pricing, secure new orders, and forecast customer needs

Collect and share pertinent customer or market information in a timely fashion

Monitor shipment and inventory levels vs. organizational goals

Properly communicate customer information and requirements to other internal departments

Solicit new business opportunities

Communicate and help resolve customer service issues

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, supply chain management or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience

At least 3 years of related experience in sales

Related experience in steel and / ormetals is preferred.

Must be willing to travel on a frequent basis.

Has established OEM relationships.

Job Skills and Knowledge

Computer literacy to a working skills level - proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Organizational, analytical, and time management skills highly desired

Ability to work in a team environment while also managing individual or departmental objectives

Willingness to travel to customer plants in as needed

Working conditions

Normal, fast-paced office environment for a high impact team
