Seaspan Shipyards is proud to be Canada's long-term, strategic shipbuilding partner for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.

As a direct result of this work, while creating jobs and rebuilding our domestic shipbuilding industry, Seaspan Shipyards is delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

Vancouver Shipyards, based in North Vancouver, has been very busy working on some exciting projects. We continue to make progress on two 174m long Joint Support Ships (JSS) for the Royal Canadian Navy - the largest ships ever built in Canada! We are working towards delivery of an Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel (OOSV) for the Canadian Coast Guard, and will be starting construction later this year of the first heavy Polar Icebreaker built in Canada for over 50 years.

Following that we have several Multi-Purpose Vessels that are currently designing for construction in years to come. These projects bring long-term job stability on some of the most exciting and significant shipbuilding opportunities in the world.

Now is a great time to join the team at Seaspan and be part of the regeneration of the shipbuilding tradition and become a member of a talented, diverse team that is forging a bright future for Canadian shipbuilding at one of the most modern shipyards in North America.

Welders have a major role in the shipbuilding industry. Ships of this size and complexity require the deposition of large amounts of high-quality weld to ensure the structural integrity of the ship while at sea and to ensure the integrity of the many different systems required to make the ship operate at its maximum output.

Welders utilize FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW processes as well as some automated GMAW / MCAW equipment to complete these high-quality welds.

To satisfy this demand, Seaspan is seeking Red Seal Qualified Welders and / or Welders with multiple years of welding experience in heavy manufacturing and / or pressure welding.

Now is the best time to be part of Canada's shipbuilding industry!
