Scope of the Position :

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for leading the monthly financial close and reporting process as well as preparing various accounting analyses and other financial reports and presentations.

You are :

Dynamic, organized, autonomous, detail oriented, a team player and have an analytical mind.

Responsibilities :

  • Administer our financial consolidation, reporting and planning tool.
  • Lead Sonepar Canada's monthly close processes including full cycle accounting (journal entries, accruals and adjustments)
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in the preparation of various analyses for senior management and the parent company.
  • Contribute to the realization of financial presentations for the executive leadership team.
  • Balance sheet reconciliation and fixed asset control and management for the Holding company
  • Participate in finance projects (Implementing financial tools, KPIs, Formalizing accounting documentation).
  • Oversee the annual internal control process and coordinate with various Opcos’ of Sonepar Canada.
  • You will often be interacting (in English and French) with the Finance Directors of the Opcos’ of Sonepar Canada and with Sonepar's teams in France.
  • You will participate in the preparation of the corporate income tax provision and returns.
  • Work with external auditors at year end.
  • As needed, oversee and / or coordinate with external consultants who assist with the daily operations.
  • Ad hoc projects and analysis.

Requirements :

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, with an accounting option;
  • A valid accounting designation (CPA); or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position, ideally in a retail or distribution business;
  • The ability to analyze and summarize information to understand findings and issues;
  • An analytical mind and detail oriented; inquisitive, with the ability to work conscientiously and consistently;
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with a variety of individuals and groups;
  • Bilingualism, oral and written (French and English);
  • Strong computer skills including Office suite, Excel spreadsheets, Power BI.
  • Experience with Infor SX and SAP an asset.
