Overview :

Established in 1980, Potvin Group of Companies is a multifaceted enterprise managing a diverse portfolio of companies. One of our subsidiary companies specializes in construction, focusing on cabinetry, trim work, siding, and framing.

Additionally, we oversee another company dedicated to rental properties and land development, as well as a separate entity specializing in machinery rentals.

As a part of our collective ventures, we manage approximately 200 apartments / condominium units and seek an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the financial operations across these varied enterprises.

Primary responsibilities :

  • Financial management and supervision : Oversee and manage all financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and forecasting for the entire portfolio of companies and properties.
  • Accounting Oversight : Direct and execute all accounting functions such as accounts payable / receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

  • Tax Compliance and Coordination : Manage relationships and compliance with tax authorities such as Revenue Canada. Coordinate with external tax advisors for accurate and timely tax filings.
  • Risk Management and Insurance : Oversee and manage insurance policies for the properties and liaise with insurance providers to ensure adequate coverage.

Mitigate financial risks related to the properties and companies.

  • Legal and Regulatory Liaison : Collaborate with legal firms for company-related matters, contracts, and compliance. Ensure adherence to WSIB regulations and other legal requirements.
  • Staff Supervision and Team Management : Lead and manage the rental team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.

Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to support professional development.

  • Process Improvement and Implementation : Identify opportunities for process enhancements, systems upgrades, and implement efficient accounting procedures across the companies to streamline operations.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of various accounting aspects.
  • Strong leadership and management skills
