Powell Service Division is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Superintendent interested in joining one of the nation’s leading providers of medium and low voltage switchgear.
Powell Service Division is responsible for ensuring the end-to-end safety, quality and performance of Powell equipment across the US and Canada.
This includes maintaining business to business relations with our customers on site and suppliers, performing installations, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and periodic supervision of contractors and small crews of Powell employees.
The ideal candidate can establish and maintain professional relationships, thinks critically, can lead and supervise successful teams, and is a problem solver.
The Superintendent is also accountable for on-site financial, safety, quality, and other targets for the assigned district.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee, manage, and support groups of Contract Labor and Powell’s Field Technicians while ensuring all job tasks are effectively, efficiently, and safety being executed.
- Manage time and expenses for a large-scale project including : installation of Switchgear / PCR building; acceptance testing / commissioning leading;
customer startup support.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers to ensure all opportunities are maximized.
- Seek out and report up opportunity for increased scope and or new projects.
- Support sales and estimating on job walks and quotes to maximize our capabilities to win projects.
- Attend internal and customer kickoff meetings.
- Work with engineering to ensure all materials and drawings are ready for a project
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal departments as well as all clients, vendors, contactors, Powell managers and employees
- Provide support to co-workers, clients, and staff while ensuring all electricians have the required resources and assistance to effectively and efficiently complete job tasks
- Assist in the recruitment of Field Technician and Contractors in partnership with the HR department and supporting identified resourcing requirements.
- Review monthly safety summaries and perform site inspections within assigned area to ensure best work practices and safety procedures are followed
- Mentor and demonstrate exceptional leadership to the employees.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Contribute to the development of an annual plan to meet or exceed the business plan goals and the achievement of annual plan revenue and profitability goals
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an industrial electrical or related environment.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in leading teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Versed in electrical safety by way of NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 / OSHA 3095
Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements
- Skilled with Microsoft software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. Business system experience in Oracle a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated excellent leadership skills.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulation
- Must possess a valid driver license with a clear record.
Working & Environmental Conditions
The Superintendent typically performs duties in an industrial environment. This position requires services both locally and across the Continental US.

Work at heights greater than 10’.
Work on ladders of all types.
Work on scissors and bucket lifts (on occasion).
In addition, employees will be required to complete and pass Company and Customer required drug screening, background and employment verification checks, maintaining eligibility throughout employment.
