strengthening the Paralympic Movement.

Job SummaryThe Officer, Finance & Operations works to support the Director, Finance, Risk & Operations on financial management, reporting, and analysis for the Canadian Paralympic Committee.

This position also supports as a secondary (backup) role to the Paralympic Foundation of Canada for business continuity.

The individual contributes to implementing systems and processes for effective financial management, including daily financial transactions and financial reporting requirements with funding partners ensuring sound financial controls.

Type : Full Time

Salary : $60,-$67, annually based on experience plus benefits

Reports To : Director, Finance, Risk & Operations

Location : CPC Offices in Ottawa -Hybrid (2-3 times per week)

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to providing financial and operational support to the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Paralympic Foundation of Canada in the following :

Financial Support

  • Maintain and make recommendations regarding account structure; open new GL accounts, dimensions, and other accounting system standards as needed.
  • Work in collaboration with the Finance team (Officer-PFC & Director) to manage the monthly closing process; reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare monthly statements, and monitor bank accounts.
  • Prepare year-end audit working papers and assist in preparation and fieldwork for the annual audit for CPC. Provide support as necessary for the audit of PFC.
  • Prepare budget templates for the Canadian Paralympic Committee
  • Process accounts payable, intercompany, accounts receivable, and deposits accurately and on a

timely basis.

  • Prepare invoices to CPC Corporate sponsors according to contractual agreement.
  • Prepare revenue reconciliation, including working closely with Officer-PFC to provide accurate reporting on Partner Activation bank and Value-in-Kind revenue.
  • Compile information for monthly credit card statements and prepare monthly reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve any financial irregularities or risks.
  • Prepare and support travel reconciliations for games-time.
  • Prepare government forms and annual corporate charity returns.
  • Review and implement financial policies.
  • Monitor and verify financial data integrity and any possible risks.
  • Identify and resolve invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies, and other financial-related risks.
  • Support financial systems innovation and improvement; assist with research, implementation, and

customization of recommended solutions.

Other duties as assigned.

Operational Support

  • Assist Director Finance, Risk & Operations with managing CPC contractual agreements.
  • Handling and securing digital files and systems.

Support Business Operations department and Finance team in other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration preferred with 3-5 years of accounting experience.

  • Pursuing CPA designation
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Smartsheet and proficient in other Microsoft tools
  • Expertise with Microsoft Business Central

Significant experience with nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, and compliance, along with expansive knowledge of GAAP.

Solid experience with financial systems, financial reporting, budget preparation, and adherence to statutory, regulatory, and other policy standards and requirements

Solid analytical abilities, combined with being detail-oriented, organized, and able to track data efficiently

and accurately.

Working Conditions · The CPC Head Office is located in Ottawa, ON. CPC Offices in Ottawa -Hybrid

2-3 times per week)· This position might require overnight travel to sites within Canada (e.g., Games, Events, partner

meetings, etc.)· Staff based outside of Ottawa will be expected to travel to Ottawa a few times a year or as the job

demands.

Will be required to work evenings and weekends during busy periods, including during Games time and other special events
