Project Manager (Centre Block Ottawa)

The Opportunity :

This is your chance to join the iconic Centre Block Rehabilitation project as an intermediate Project Manager! The Centre Block Rehabilitation Project is a long-term renovation, rehabilitation and rejuvenation project of national interest within the Parliamentary Precinct.

WSP (in joint venture) is providing a range of multidisciplinary consultancy services, including design management, engineering design and contract administration.

WSP's scope extends well beyond a rehabilitation of Centre Block (CB) and the Peace Tower (PT) to include a large multi-level, below grade Visitor Welcome Centre (VWC) located immediately to the south of CB.

What you can expect to do here :

The role entails managing sub-projects / workstreams through the design package / construction documentation development process, and includes the following tasks :

• Plan, execute and control the sub-project through all phases from initiation, design / definition, detailed design, to issue of construction documents;
• Develop proactive measures with the design team to ensure designs are delivered within cost and schedule constraints;
• Coordinate and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team (internal staff, external consultants, contractors and suppliers) to achieve the Client's objectives consistent with the scope of services to be provided;
• Be responsible and accountable for ensuring that the required functions of the project are satisfactorily performed.

What you'll bring to WSP :

• Engineering or Architectural degree from a recognized University;
• PMI certification or equivalent would be an asset;
• Seven years or more of demonstrated experience with project management responsibilities;
• Previous experience with buildings and engineering projects is required;
• Previous demonstrated experience in successfully managing a team of professionals;
• Familiarity with all commonly used project delivery models;
• A sound understanding of scheduling techniques, budget development, and risk management is needed;
• Leadership, negotiation, communication and strong customer relationship skills are essential;
• Security Clearance Level 1 (Reliability) is a minimum requirement for this position.
