Position : Legal Administrative Assistant Family Law

Location : Vancouver

We are a leading recruitment agency seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Administrative Assistant specializing in Family Law on behalf of our client, a prestigious law firm located in downtown Vancouver.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the family law team.

Responsibilities :

  • Open and maintain client files, ensure adherence to firm policies and procedures, conduct conflict searches, manage a high volume of emails, maintain calendars, and prepare routine correspondence.
  • Prepare, serve, and file court documents such as Notices of Trial and Notices of Change of Lawyer.
  • Schedule trial dates, discoveries, meetings, and conferences; confirm dates with all involved parties as required.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with court deadlines and limitations.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly invoices and provide general administrative support to the legal team.

Qualifications :

  • Completion of a post-secondary Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) program or equivalent real-world experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in family law.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of BC Supreme Court Rules, court practices and procedures, and filing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with family law rules and procedures.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and respond to changing situations effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to providing quality work with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Strong client service orientation.
  • Proactive work ethic, ability to work independently, take initiative, and be resourceful.
  • Proficiency in file organization and time management.
  • Willingness to work overtime if required.
  • Proficiency in Adobe, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
