Sustainable Brands Manager
Overview
This role is responsible for championing the transition to, and acceptance of, sustainable construction materials and services in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) community across Western Canada.
This includes the use of ECOPlanet Cement, ECOPact Concrete, and other sustainable building solutions such as those supporting the circular economy, water conservation, and bio-diversity.
The Sustainable Brands Manager will work both externally to develop acceptance of sustainable solutions making Lafarge Canada the clear choice to partner with, and internally with marketing and sales departments to deliver those solutions and accelerate market transition.
Owners, developers, designers, and builders are shifting how they build to compete in an environment with accelerating sustainability, community and business demands and this role works within this community to advance Lafarge’s offerings.
This role will also promote Lafarge’s sustainable solutions to government specifiers to lead the transition to sustainable construction of infrastructure.

Obeys safety guidelines when on construction sites and Lafarge operations
Results :
This role will be responsible for aiding business units in achieving targets in Western Canada for sustainable and premium products
Strategy :
Work closely with the product line sales teams in each market area across Western Canada, in determining roadblocks in the acceptance of sustainable products
Build and support strong business relationships with Architects and Engineers across Western Canada to facilitate development activities for Lafarge business units and sustainable solutions
Challenge assumptions by designers / specifiers on cement, concrete, concrete products, asphalt, and aggregates to allow for acceptance of new materials and different approaches to achieving performance
Work closely with the Senior Sustainability Manager and Performance Group on the development of EPDs across all product lines and new product mixes to meet customer demands
Develop and manage sustainable product toolkits to be used in market areas to support the growth of sustainable products and solutions, and engagements with governments and customers;
participate in the development of pricing structures
Working together with the Communications team, lead the rollout of new sustainable products on Lafarge’s website, social media and press releases as appropriate
Understand and communicate Lafarge’s strategic sustainability objectives, and how the ECO-branded products contribute to lowering the embodied carbon in the construction of buildings and infrastructure
Together with Western Canada’s Sustainability team, roll out and conduct internal training across market areas to help with understanding sustainability objectives and sustainable products
Involvement in market area sales and marketing strategies through the sustainable product lens
Identify and understand the current sustainability needs of existing and potential customers, and create a plan with the local sales teams to develop opportunities
Track outreach and communication through SalesForce
Understand product specifications, identify and recommend opportunities
Represent Lafarge on industry-related committees and associations relevant to construction sustainability
Promote Lafarge’s products and solutions at industry relevant events and conferences through speaking engagements
Review and lead any new proposed changes to building (codes or procurement) within Western Canada, keeping senior managers informed of potential changes that could affect the business
Relationships with Others :
Reports to Head of Sustainability and Environment WCAN, and works closely with Senior Sustanability Manager, WCAN.
Working directly with all product line Sales Managers, Performance Directors and Managers, Quality and Technical Managers in Western Canada
Working closely with the WCAN communications team on sustainability messaging and stories
Qualifications : Education :
Education :
Post-secondary degree in architecture, engineering, commerce or a related field is required
Experience & Skill Set :
Minimum 5 years experience in construction materials, engineering or sales
Excellent people skills, able to develop effective working relationships internally and externally
Strong work ethic, with solid problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to analyze market activities and develop effective strategies
Results and detail-oriented
