Job Summary :

DPR’s Roving Leaders are responsible for developing and implementing broad-based programs, activities, and intervention for youth.

Recreation programming, counseling and rapport building are tools used to engage the youth in positive leisure service activities.

The programs include the : Camp Footloose, Talented Ladies in the Community (TLC), Youth Motivation (YM), Community Outreach, Fun Wagon, Skate Mobile, Obstacle Course, Rock Wall, and Movie Night Out.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Facilitator

• Plan and implement daily camp programs and activities for Roving Leader camps / programs
• Assist with the outreach services in at risk communities
• Crisis Intervention and Resolutions.
• Conduct youth development engagement
• Engage youth of all ages in positive recreational activities.
• Interact with youth via mobile recreation
• Assist and Teach youth to use recreation equipment.
• Maintain care and upkeep of the equipment and supplies.
• Assist with gang intervention services, counseling and social service referrals.
• Provide support to city wide special events and initiatives.
• Escort youth on field trips throughout the city;
• Develop violence prevention programs

Area of Consideration : This position is part of the Pathway to Government Employment Partnership Program. District residents who received a high school diploma from the District of Columbia Public Schools or a District public charter school or received a GED or its equivalent from the District of Columbia will receive priority consideration for this entry-level position.

Applicants must provide a high school transcript, GED certificate, high school diploma, or other applicable documentation along with verification of District residency before the District government may extend a final offer of employment.

Tour of Duty : May vary as required by the needs of the program to include split days off, or fluctuating tour of duty including evenings, weekends and / or holidays.

Salary :

Facilitator : $24 / hr.

Position Designation : This position is designated as a Protection Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and periodic Criminal Background Checks and Traffic Records Checks (as applicable).

This position is also subject to mandatory pre-employment and random Drug and Alcohol Testing. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana.
