Job description :
A Mississauga based engineering and manufacturing company engaged in the design, supply, and installation of heavy machinery, with particular focus on the steel mill industry is seeking Junior, Intermediate and Senior Mechanical Designers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare detailed design calculations and analysis of mechanical equipment for the Steel Industry.
Prepare technical and other project specifications.
Coordinate mechanical design work with that performed by other engineering disciplines.
For Senior Designers :
Be capable, if the need arises, to coordinate and direct the work of a small group of mechanical designers and draftspersons.
Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, reports, and preliminary designs.
Prepare detailed design calculations, conceptual layouts, and sketches.
Develop initial concepts into final designs, which would include preparing detail drawings, assemblies, bills of material, etc.
Investigate field problems, and prepare reports.
Provide on-site technical support during major machinery installations.
Provide support to the sales team when visiting customers.
Provide technical guidance to co-workers.
Qualifications :
QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this position must offer the following :
A portfolio of design is required as well as an updated resume for consideration.
Proficient in the use of 3D Cad design software (preferably Solid Works).
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong computer oriented skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, FEA Analysis, Math, CAD, etc.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems, and provide solutions using sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Must be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as within a team setting.
For Senior Designers :
P. ENG registration in the Province of Ontario is preferred but not mandatory for Senior Designers
10+ years combined experience in the design of Steel Mill and / or Steel Coil Processing equipment and / or heavy industrial machinery design (e.
g. mining or Material Handling)
Knowledge of the design, fabrication, and installation of heavy mechanical equipment.
Must hold a valid passport, as there will be occasional travel to the U.S.A., as well as within Canada.
