Job Description

Invoke is looking for a Senior AI Game Designer to join our creative team and develop game systems and mechanics for our next game.

The ideal candidate is passionate about gameplay and player experience, displays mastery over the various facets of game design and is able to show a high level of ownership and leadership on a project.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with the creative leadership to develop the game’s vision into practical and achievable designs.
• Own end-to-end 3C game features and systems designing and building them with responsiveness and playability in mind.
• Design new features to meet the game's objectives and use the Agile methodology for feature implementation.
• Guide the team through feature development and iteration, including working with production to define game mechanics budget, priorities, and schedule, working with programmers, level designers, and QA to respect the plan.
• Take ownership of the creation of character archetypes as defined on paper, and bring them to fruition so that their play mechanics fit into the universe.
• Produce opponent archetypes that offer an appropriate level of challenge in a combat context that reflects gameplay intention.
• Produce epic encounters with a more scripted aspect such as boss-fights with curated and exotic mechanics.
• Have a good systemic instinct to maximize utilization of systemic ingredients in relation with AI entities and how they interact with the world.
• Benchmark and break down competitor’s games into defined references, analysis, and inspiration.
• Collaborate with other designers and team members in the fundamentals of elegant design, feedback triage, and adaptive design.

What You'll Bring

• 8+ years of video game development on AAA titles.
• Experience implementing designs in Unreal or similar game engine.
• Experience in feature design, and be able to build fun gameplay that drives player engagement.
• Initiative to push boundaries and a strong desire to build something outstanding.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Live services support is a plus.
