As we move through a period of exciting transformation and organizational change, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) has an immediate opening for an Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Program Specialist (12 Month Contract)
Under the authority of the Professional Engineers Act , PEO licenses and governs over 91,500 licence and certificate holders and regulates the practice of professional engineering in Ontario.
PEO’s mission is to regulate and advance the practice of engineering to protect the public interest. With a talented, multidisciplinary staff of over 100, PEO’s vision is to be a trusted leader in professional self-regulation.
Position Summary
The Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Program Specialist will be responsible for educating, creating training materials and delivering of workshops to PEO’s Council, external facing staff, volunteers and committee members.
This role will support the operationalizing of our Anti-Racism and Equity (ARE) code by ensuring the necessary audiences have access to the relevant training.
This role reports to the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Manager.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver EDI workshops and training materials tailored to PEO's audiences, including Council, tribunals, volunteers, and staff
- Create customized training on topics such as implicit / unconscious bias, cultural awareness, 2SLGBTQ+ competency, and Indigenous relations and history
- Deliver hybrid training sessions to PEO's Council, staff and volunteers.
- Ensure training materials meet PEO's commitment to EDI, the ARE Code, and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
Specialized Skills and Knowledge
- Experience in both the design and delivery of materials, along with a deep understanding of emerging EDI challenges.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills for live and virtual training sessions
- Proven experience leading change management and / or program management.
- Lived experience within historically marginalized communities would be an asset.
- Strong communication skills at all levels.
- Demonstrated experience in educating multi-generational audiences
- Ability to navigate complex situations with tact, good judgment and diplomacy.
- Stakeholder engagement and management skills
