Personal Injury Law Clerk Hamilton, Ontario

Our reputable personal injury firm in Hamilton is searching for a highly skilled and enthusiastic law clerk or paralegal to join our passionate and dedicated close-knit team.

What You'll Be Doing :

Client Advocacy : Be the bridge between clients and their path to recovery. Attend potential new client meetings with the responsible lawyer to meet the clients you'll be working for.

You’ll manage accident benefits (AB) claims, liaise with insurers, doctors, and employers, and handle tort claims by preparing the file for examinations for discovery, mediations, and trials.

Comprehensive Case Management : Oversee both Accident Benefits and Tort files. For AB files, you’ll help create rehabilitation teams for clients and ensure service providers are fulfilling their duties.

For tort cases, you will assist in gathering evidence, coordinating with experts, and preparing court documents. You’ll keep clients updated on the status of their cases.

Legal Documentation : Draft LAT applications, case conference briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents. You’ll review accident benefit files, medical records, and any available evidence to build strong AB and tort cases.

Protection of Client Rights : Track denials, limitation dates, and court deadlines to safeguard your clients’ interests.

You’ll take a proactive approach to ensure all timelines are respected in both AB and tort matters.

Effective Communication : Engage in professional correspondence with accident benefit adjusters, opposing counsel, clients, and other stakeholders.

You’ll advocate for clients with insurers, handling delays and disputes to ensure they receive what they are entitled to.

What We Offer :

  • Competitive Package : Recognition of your hard work, commitment, and performance with a competitive salary based on your experience.
  • Health and Wellness : Flexible Health Care Spending Account for dental care, vision care, and extended health care.
  • Support and Growth : Access to our Wellness initiative and opportunities for continuing legal education (CLE) and personal development courses.
  • Time for You : Vacation determined based on your experience level.
  • Team Spirit : Participate in company events that foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
  • Community Engagement : Make a difference with two dedicated volunteer days and join us in community events.

What You Bring to the Table :

Proven Expertise : Substantial experience in Plaintiff Personal Injury law, with a deep understanding of both Accident Benefits and Tort claims.

Previous experience as an Accident Benefits Adjuster or a Licenced Paralegal is preferred.

  • Legal Proficiency : Strong knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), License Appeal Tribunal (LAT), Rules of Civil Procedure, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Master of Organization : Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and maintain impeccable attention to detail.
  • Client Champion : Outstanding interpersonal skills, demonstrating your dedication to providing exceptional client service and ensuring clients feel supported.
  • Independence and Initiative : A self-starter who is reliable, confident, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
