Director of Finance

This role will be covering a 12-18 month maternity leave.

BuildDirect.com is looking for a Director of Finance. This role is a critical part of the executive team, reporting directly to the General Manager of BuildDirect.

com. Candidate must be highly motivated, taking ownership of the division’s financial position with a strong desire to help build / grow the business.

This role must have a keen focus on operational reporting, delivering key insights to drive change and growth throughout BuildDirect.

com and must closely collaborate with other financial / operational teams.

You would be joining an experienced team focused on growing BuildDirect’s business through online and offline sales. By combining deep industry experience, strong ecommerce skills and a focus on profitable growth, the team is positioned well.

The vision of BuildDirect is to grow the online and services business while building out physical store locations.

BuildDirect is headquartered in Vancouver. This role is a hybrid / flex schedule with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office and two flex days a week.

Includes a competitive salary, discretionary cash bonus and the potential for equity compensation.

Qualifications :

• Ten years or more of progressive professional experience in financial analysis, reporting, and finance operations and / or consulting
• Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data and trends into key insights and recommendations.
• Financial acumen and the ability to build forecasts, manage budgets, and develop various financial models.
• Experience building and leading high quality, efficient teams, mentoring direct reports, and collaborating in a cross-functional environment.
• Understanding and use of cost accounting. Must have working knowledge of using accruals versus actual and reporting variances.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Preference to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
• NetSuite experience a strong plus with the ability to create KPI’s and scorecards.
• Shopify and ecommerce experience a plus.

Responsibilities :

• Ownership of the monthly Accounting / Reporting of BuildDirect.com including the P&L, Balance Sheet, treasury and cash flow.
• Manage the accounting team (currently a team of 3) that performs the monthly close process, accounts payable / receivable functions and daily accounting management.
• Monthly accounting of BuildDirect.com for consolidation into the company’s financial statements, requiring close collaboration with the corporate accounting team.
• Own Financial Planning and Analysis
• Develop a rolling 12 month sales projection and needed models to support
• Monthly budget to actual reporting
• Long-range planning and ROI scenarios as needed
• Drive various special projects, leveraging a broad knowledge of different functions, including Accounting, Finance, FP&A, Billing, and Operations
• Partner with other Operations functions to create change management and communications strategies to ensure strong adoption of processes and practices across the business
